Oil on canvas (2007). Ira was a self-taught artist who began painting in midlife after having a full life as a poet. He said, "My paintings just happen. It's a happy accident, an ecstatic surprise. I paint because it moves my spirit, and so others can see them, and get what they can when they see them."
